Tip #3: Make Nutrition Rechecks Part of Your Routine
Welcome to part three of our weight loss series! If you missed parts one or two, be sure to check them out here.
Now that everyone at home is “on board” with Fluffy and Fido’s weight loss plans, let’s talk about how we’re going to stay on track to ensure their success.
First of all, is our pet’s weight loss really our responsibility? We sure think so!We can control the type of food and the quantity of food that goes into our pets’ bodies. But it’s important to remember: “with great power, comes great responsibility”. Which brings us to accountability. How do we keep ourselves accountable? How do we stay motivated? How will we ensure that our pets succeed?
We control the type of food and the quantity of food that goes into our pets’ bodies.
We can accomplish all of this by making nutrition rechecks part of your regular health care routine. It is not enough to weigh your pet at the beginning of a weight loss plan and hope for the best. Frequent weigh-ins will help you:
- be accountable for your pet’s progress (or lack there of)
- stay motivated as you get closer to your goal
- ensure that your pets lose weight at a healthy rate, through careful monitoring and early intervention
Frequent nutrition rechecks are important to the success of a weight loss plan.
We recommend weighing your pets every 2-4 weeks while on a weight loss plan. You may have a baby scale at home that will work for your pet, or you may need to drop by the clinic for a couple of minutes. If your pet is anxious at the clinic, you may think it is kinder to not visit so frequently. However, these frequent visits without invasive procedures can help your pet be happier in the clinic in the future—as well as healthier since we will be able to better assist you in their weight loss journey.
Frequent “Friendly Visits” to the clinic for nutrition rechecks can help your pets be more relaxed and confident in future visits.
We know that you want your pets to be healthy and happy (we do too!). So, what are you waiting for? Book an appointment today. Let’s work together to develop a plan that works for you and your fur family. The sooner we start, the sooner we will reach our destination.
