Our third interview in our series is someone who has worked with Dr Ashby since they were both starting out. As a veterinary assistant,  Vanessa works in all parts of the hospital, from the exam rooms, to the reception desk, to our treatment room. She shows great compassion for our patients and their families and is unrelenting in her helpfulness. We hope you enjoy getting to know Vanessa and her position as part of our team interview series. Like all the heroes on our team, she shares our superpowers of compassion, knowledge, and service.

Here are her answers to our interview questions:

What is something veterinary practices have to deal with that you want to fix?

I want to help clients by answering questions with regards to their pets.

What do you do as a Veterinary Assistant at Carriage Crossing Animal Hospital?

I help clients keep their furry family members healthy and happy.  I answer phones and emails, order supplies, keep the days running smoothly, scan patient related records and maintain a clean hospital.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position as Veterinary Assistant?

I did a co-op placement in high school at another animal hospital and have worked at an animal hospital ever since!  Before that I worked at Pride Stables and Arby’s.

What do you like about working as a Veterinary Assistant at Carriage Crossing Animal Hospital?

I like the team that I work with and the work that we do to help clients and animals.

What’s your background?

I grew up in Scarborough.

What are the values that drive you?

Kindness and positivity.

Your top 3 favorite Movies/Books/Shows?

I love to snuggle up with my cats and watch The Bachelor, Survivor or Hudson and Rex!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I enjoy riding, spending time with my cats, family and friends.
